Tuxhorn integrates the AC•THOR 9s into a hydraulic unit

Leading hydraulic expertise meets intelligent power electronics for PV heat. The new tubra®-eTherm AC•THOR 9s combines the best of both worlds, especially in systems with large water volumes.

Tuxhorn and my-PV – two strong partners who have been advancing the power-to-heat sector together for years. This proven collaboration has now resulted in a new product from Tuxhorn. The tubra® eTherm AC•THOR 9s combines the high-quality hydraulics of the Tuxhorn eTherm C9+ with the AC•THOR 9s, the intelligent photovoltaic power manager from my-PV.

The tubra®-eTherm AC•THOR 9s is a hydraulic unit with integrated control. With the help of the AC•THOR 9s power electronics from my-PV, excess photovoltaic electricity is converted into heat and stored to optimize self-consumption.

The result is a turnkey solution for using PV surplus energy for domestic hot water preparation and heating support – developed and optimized by two specialists.

Maximum self-consumption optimization

In typical applications, surplus solar power is continuously and in real time converted into heat and stored in the buffer tank – essentially functioning as a clean, usable thermal battery.

The intelligent control of the AC•THOR 9s automatically detects available surplus energy and precisely regulates the heating power from 0 to 9 kW according to demand.

Surplus measurement is carried out either via my-PV’s own surplus detection using the my-PV WiFi Meter or via compatible partner systems. In line with its open-system philosophy, the Austrian manufacturer of photovoltaic heating solutions also supports measurements from compatible partners – allowing easy integration with around 90 well-known manufacturers.

This ensures that only surplus photovoltaic energy is used for heat generation.

The proven Tuxhorn hydraulics ensure optimal integration into existing heating and domestic hot water systems, with a constant charging temperature for stratified charging of a buffer storage tank.

The solution is deliberately designed for simple installation and commissioning – ideal for installers and planners looking for a reliable complete system.

Power-to-Heat stations from Tuxhorn

Power-to-heat stations from Tuxhorn store energy in thermal storage tanks, which offer significantly higher storage capacities than batteries. They are used exclusively for heating water using an electric heating element based on the flow-through principle.

Key features of the Tuxhorn tubra®-eTherm AC•THOR 9s

  • Complete system from a single source – hydraulics and power electronics perfectly matched

  • Stepless control from 0–9 kW for maximum self-consumption optimization

  • Stratified buffer tank charging: constant charging temperature of 70 °C, independent of tank temperature and power level

  • Proven tubra® quality – over 100 years of experience in valve technology

  • Intelligent my-PV control – compatible with all common inverter, battery storage and smart home manufacturers

  • Easy installation – ready-to-connect unit for quick installation

  • Sector coupling made easy – linking the electricity and heating sectors
