Practical expertise from a specialist event at Heger Energietechnik

How can a solar-electric company building be successfully implemented in practice – and what needs to be considered as early as the planning phase? These were the key questions addressed at the end of September during a joint specialist event organised by Heger Energietechnik, ETHERMA and my-PV in Großostheim near Aschaffenburg.

The event took place at the premises of Heger Energietechnik, whose company building already serves as a successfully implemented reference project for the intelligent use of photovoltaic electricity and electric heating. This gave participants the opportunity not only to gain theoretical insights, but also to see the presented solutions in operation directly within the building afterwards.

Different areas of expertise, one common topic

The event brought together participants from a wide range of sectors. These included heating engineers, energy consultants, architects, structural contractors, industrial building specialists, prefabricated house manufacturers, electricians, as well as representatives from banks and housing cooperatives.

This diversity was an important part of the exchange. Projects such as the Heger company building demonstrate that successful implementation does not depend on a single trade or discipline. Energy supply, building technology, architecture, construction methods and the use of photovoltaic electricity must be considered together from the very beginning.

From planning to implementation

Following an introduction to Heger Energietechnik, ETHERMA presented the most important data, facts and experiences from the reference project – including the annual performance data.

Markus Gundendorfer, Head of Sales DACH at my-PV, then explained my-PV’s contribution and highlighted the key factors that need to be considered in comparable projects. One of the most important aspects is involving all relevant parties at an early stage. The earlier the photovoltaic system, solar-electric heating and overall building concept are planned together, the better the technical possibilities can be utilised – from selecting the appropriate products to integrating the PV system into the building envelope.

Lively technical exchange

After the presentations, participants took the opportunity to engage in an in-depth discussion. Specific practical questions were addressed and experiences from the various specialist fields were shared.

A closer look at the reference project

The event concluded with a joint tour of the Heger Energietechnik company building.

In this project, the PV system with roof and façade modules, commercial battery storage, charging infrastructure and electric heating system work together as one integrated overall solution. Concrete core activation using heating mats provides long-term heat storage within the building, while radiant heaters enable the hall to be heated quickly when required. A total of 13 my-PV AC•THOR 9s PV Power Managers regulate the heat supply continuously and ensure that surplus PV electricity is used as efficiently as possible for heating the company building.

Participants were able to see first-hand how the solutions presented earlier had been implemented in the actual building. In this way, the event successfully bridged the gap between planning, technical implementation and real-world operation.

Further details on the technical implementation can be found in our detailed reference report on Heger Energietechnik’s solar-electric company building.

Many thanks to Heger Energietechnik, ETHERMA and all participants for the engaging and insightful exchange.
