Dynamic Tariff Optimizer
my-PV DTO
Do you have a dynamic electricity tariff and want to learn how to benefit even more from low market prices? With the my-PV Dynamic Tariff Optimizer (DTO), anyone with a dynamic electricity tariff can take advantage of renewable and cost-effective energy.
The my-PV DTO optimizes the use of dynamic electricity tariffs specifically for hot water production and heating. It automatically adjusts your heating system and intelligently integrates PV surplus into the daily forecast. This way, the costs for hot water and heating can be efficiently reduced in a renewable manner, even during periods of low PV yields.
How does the my-PV DTO work?
The my-PV DTO analyzes individual user habits as well as technical parameters such as storage volume and temperature to determine the optimal time for heat supply based on current electricity exchange prices.
For users, this means maximum convenience: there is no need to constantly monitor electricity prices. The my-PV DTO controls heat generation fully automatically, always utilizing the most cost-effective time slots.
Good to know: The my-PV DTO contains the stock market prices from 13 European countries!

my-PV DTO in Two Variants
my-PV DTO with a PV system
If you have both a photovoltaic (PV) system and a dynamic electricity tariff, the my-PV DTO allows you to use affordable grid energy for heat supply even during bad weather or at night when your PV system isn’t generating enough electricity.
In combination with a PV system, the my-PV DTO forecasts the next day's PV yield based on weather data. Based on this information, it determines whether additional electricity needs to be sourced from the grid or if the PV surplus is sufficient for heat generation.
Benefits of using the my-PV DTO with a PV system
The my-PV DTO is easily activated in the my-PV Cloud
Access affordable electricity for heating even during low-sunlight periods
Works in combination with all IoT-enabled my-PV devices: AC ELWA 2, AC•THOR, AC•THOR 9s, and SOL•THOR
Utilize even more renewable energy, even when your PV system isn’t producing electricity
)
my-PV DTO without a PV system
Even households without their own PV system can benefit from affordable, renewable energy using the my-PV DTO – in combination with the HEA•THOR, the new IoT heating element.
Benefit from dynamic tariffs with my-PV DTO and HEA•THOR
Benefit from low-cost, renewable energy even without your own PV system
Maximum convenience: my-PV DTO fully automates water heating at the lowest-cost times
Network-enabled heating element, without power modulation
Available in 3.5 kW and 9 kW variants
Communication via LAN/WLAN with the my-PV DTO
Operating data available at any time in the my-PV Cloud

Achieving savings with dynamic electricity tariffs
The graphic illustrates the interaction between electricity market prices, PV surplus, and the performance of the my-PV device.
With my-PV's new feature, this interaction will work seamlessly and fully automatically. The my-PV device uses either the renewable, cost-effective electricity from the grid or the surplus from the PV system for heating, provided a PV system is installed. Try the simulation and calculate your possible savings!

The simulation above shows the electricity market prices (EPEX Spot, 60 min, Day-Ahead) excluding VAT for various countries. Please note that these are not end-customer prices. For example, the HOURLY tariff from the Austrian energy provider aWATTar adds additional costs to the displayed market prices, such as a balancing energy component of 3% of the market price, a procurement component of 1.5 cents/kWh, as well as regional grid fees and balancing energy components. These additional components are not considered in the simulation shown above. Furthermore, a VAT rate of 20% is applied to all components.
Benefits of using dynamic electricity tariffs for water heating
The advantages at a glance
- Cost savings through flexible usage
- Consumers can deliberately use electricity during cheaper periods, effectively lowering their energy costs.
- Transparent pricing
- Variable electricity tariffs provide clear insight into price fluctuations.
- Contribution to the energy transition
- By using electricity during times of high renewable energy availability, consumers actively support the energy transition.
- Benefit from negative market prices
- In cases of electricity surpluses, consumers can even earn money by using electricity during periods of negative prices.
