my-PV solutions compatible with P1 slimme/digital meters through multiple integration options

The growing adoption of smart meters in the Benelux region is opening new opportunities for intelligent sector coupling in residential energy systems. my-PV now offers multiple integration options for households using P1 slimme/digital meters, enabling photovoltaic surplus energy to be efficiently converted into heat.

The photovoltaic power-to-heat solutions AC•THOR, AC•THOR 9s, and AC ELWA 2 can utilize P1 meter data to control electric heating loads for domestic hot water and space heating variably & continuously. This allows households to increase self-consumption of solar power while reducing system complexity.

A key advantage is the my-PV P1 interface, which enables surplus-energy detection directly via existing smart meters. This eliminates the need for an additional surplus detector – often required by competing solutions – resulting in lower installation costs and simpler system design.

Direct connection via my-PV P1 interface

The preferred integration method is the wired Modbus RTU/RS485 (RJ12) connection using the my-PV P1 interface, which directly connects the P1 slimme meter to my-PV devices.

Benefits of this solution include:

  • Fast and stable communication

  • Reliable surplus-energy detection and control

  • Simple system architecture without dependency on third-party services

Belgian project using the P1 interface

In this Belgian single-family home, surplus photovoltaic energy is efficiently converted into hot water using real-time data from the grid operator’s digital T211-D meter via the P1 interface. Direct communication through the P1 port enables precise surplus detection—without any additional external energy meter—ensuring simple, regulation-compliant integration.

Discover how smart P1 integration maximizes self-consumption and reduces gas usage in this project.

Integration via HomeWizard

Another integration option is available through HomeWizard EMS components, a widely used smart-home ecosystem in the Benelux region. The AC ELWA 2 is compatible with the HomeWizard P1-dongle meter, which communicates wirelessly via the local network.

Installation requirements:

  • AC ELWA 2 and the P1-dongle must be connected to the same network

  • A static IP address must be assigned to the P1-dongle

  • A P1 splitter can be used when multiple devices require access to the P1 port

HomeWizard meets AC ELWA 2

In Mechelen, homeowner Ivo B. combines the HomeWizard P1 meter with the AC ELWA 2 to convert surplus solar power into domestic hot water—fully automatically and without any additional energy meter. Thanks to seamless compatibility, the integration into the existing HomeWizard and Victron system was simple, cost-efficient, and ready to operate within minutes.

Discover how this smart P1-based setup maximizes self-consumption, reduces grid feed-in, and takes another step toward energy independence.

Integration via EverHome

The EverHome P1 ECO Tracker provides another wireless EMS integration option. Compatible devices are the AC ELWA 2 and AC•THOR 9s.

System requirements:

  • Both devices must operate within the same network

  • AC•THOR must be connected to the router via LAN cable

  • This setup allows reliable detection of PV surplus energy and dynamic control of electric heating loads.

Extended EMS integration possibilities

Beyond these solutions, the P1 slimme meter can also be integrated into broader energy-management systems (EMS) such as Eniris or Loxone. These platforms enable advanced sector-coupling strategies by prioritizing different energy consumers, for example: EV charging, Battery charging and my-PV linear power-controlled heating solutions

This flexibility allows households to maximize self-consumption while maintaining full control over energy flows.

By supporting multiple integration paths for P1 slimme/digital meters, my-PV ensures that installers and homeowners can choose the solution that best fits their system architecture – from simple direct connections to fully integrated smart-energy ecosystems.
