New compatibility partner clever-PV

The solar-electric solutions from my-PV are now also compatible with the clever-PV energy management system.

Heat generation with photovoltaic electricity:

my-PV products can now also be used in combination with the cloud-based Home Energy Management System (HEMS) from clever-PV. Thanks to this compatibility, PV surplus energy can be used intelligently and converted directly into heat – for example for domestic hot water preparation or to support space heating. This creates a flexible solution for installers and homeowners to increase the self-consumption of solar power.

clever-PV is an innovative energy management system that specializes in the intelligent use of photovoltaic surplus energy. The software connects various energy consumers in the household – such as heating elements, heat pumps, or EV chargers – and controls them intelligently and dynamically based on the available solar energy, optionally also in combination with variable electricity tariffs. The goal is to use as much self-generated electricity as possible within the household and reduce energy costs.

Products for compatibility

The compatibility particularly applies to the my-PV devices AC•THOR, AC•THOR 9s, and AC ELWA 2, which can be controlled via the clever-PV HEMS. The energy management system continuously monitors the current energy production of the photovoltaic system as well as the household’s electricity consumption.

Based on this data, clever-PV detects when surplus solar energy is available and sends corresponding control commands to the my-PV heat generators. These devices convert the PV surplus directly into heat and store the energy, for example in a domestic hot water tank. A prerequisite for this is the measurement of energy flows within the household so that the HEMS can reliably determine the current surplus. In most cases, photovoltaic systems with storage already include this measurement, meaning no additional hardware is required.

This combination enables particularly efficient use of excess solar energy. clever-PV acts as the central control unit and ensures that my-PV devices are used optimally – for hot water preparation, heating support, and increasing the self-consumption rate of the photovoltaic system. The system can also be flexibly expanded to include additional controllable loads.

The key advantage of clever-PV: the entire home in one app, where every energy consumer is optimized and clearly displayed in one place.

How exactly the connection between my-PV products and the clever-PV energy management system works is explained in detail in the following description: Manual (German)
