my-PV Now Officially Integrated into Home Assistant Core

With its inclusion in Home Assistant Core, my-PV gains direct access to one of the world’s largest open-source platforms for smart home users.

Home Assistant is the leading open-source platform for smart homes and home automation, backed by an active global community. Its core principles include local control, data privacy, and the freedom to choose devices from a wide range of manufacturers. This philosophy aligns perfectly with the open compatibility approach of my-PV, the Austrian expert in photovoltaic-based heating.

The my-PV integration is now an official part of Home Assistant Core. This makes it easier than ever to integrate my-PV’s solar-powered heating solutions into a smart home.

Previously, integrating my-PV devices with Home Assistant required manual configuration or the use of additional third-party repositories such as HACS. With the official integration, the connection is now available to all users directly through the standard installation. Using the familiar search function in the “Devices & Services” section, users can discover, configure, and integrate my-PV devices into their smart home systems – quickly, manufacturer-independently, and without any additional installation effort.

Compatible products

The integration supports key devices from the my-PV product portfolio, including AC•THOR, AC•THOR 9s, AC ELWA 2, and the network-enabled HEA•THOR IoT heating element. Communication takes place locally via the devices’ HTTP interface within the home network, eliminating the need for a cloud connection. This is fully in line with Home Assistant’s core principles of local data processing and maximum data sovereignty.

Once configured, a wide range of measurement data and control functions is available directly in Home Assistant, including current power, temperatures, operating states, and daily, monthly, and annual energy values. This data can be visualized in custom dashboards, incorporated into automations, or combined with other energy consumers in the household. For example, PV surplus can be intelligently distributed between domestic hot water heating, an EV charging station, and other appliances.

In practice, this significantly enhances convenience for users who already manage their photovoltaic systems within a centralized smart home environment. Solar surplus can be specifically converted into heat, self-consumption can be increased, and existing energy flows can be used more efficiently – including in combination with dynamic electricity tariffs or other controllable devices in the household.

With its official integration into Home Assistant Core, my-PV continues to consistently expand its open and comprehensive compatibility network. The goal remains to make photovoltaic electricity directly usable within buildings wherever possible, thereby making a key contribution to an efficient and sustainable energy supply – while delivering tangible financial benefits for PV system owners.
